A pattern imprinted concrete driveway is essentially a concrete driveway, however whilst the concrete is wet a pattern is stamped into the concrete. This is way you sometimes here it called stamped concrete. This concrete is then sealed to prevents erosion.
The process is a little more complex than just pouring concrete though. Prior to the concrete being poured,the surface must be excavated and prepared, with hardcore (large rocks effectively) used as base and drainage added as well. This process ensures that the concrete driveway isn’t damaged by water.

In part this is due to it generally being cheaper than alternatives, whilst still providing aesthetic appeal and in part due to the huge benefits such as low maintenance cost and effort and the diversity of colours and designs available.
